What We Do
Areivim Belgium is a community-based charity that provides financial support to families who suffer the untimely loss of a parent. When a member passes away, a fund is created for each orphanand an additional fund for the surviving parent.
Each active member contributes a minimum of €18 per fund, (many members choose to contribute more). With the current number of members (+1700), the average fund typically reaches over €30,000. Contributions are only collected when a loss occurs, ensuring the burden is fairly shared and remains manageable for all members.
Our mission is to ensure that no child is left without a safety net and that every grieving family receives support—with dignity, without public fundraising appeals.
We operate under the guidance of our board and according to the values of Shmiras Torah U’Mitzvos, focusing on families residing in Belgium.

1. Fund Structure
In the event of the passing of a parent, a fund will be set up for each orphan and an additional fund for the surviving parent.
Example
A parent passes away, leaving behind a widow and five children. In this case, 6 separate funds will be created — one for the surviving parent and one for each child. Each active member contributes a minimum of €18 per fund, which would amount to €108 total per member for this case (6 funds × €18). With the current number of members, this typically results in €30,000 per fund and a combined fund of around €180,000, though the exact amount may vary depending on how many members choose to contribute more than the minimum.
- Children's Fund: The fund for each eligible child will be paid out at the time of their wedding.
Parent's Fund: The surviving parent will receive €1,000 per month, starting from the month the fund is claimed, until the full fund amount is used. With the typical fund amount, this usually spans around 30 months.
2. Fund Eligibility
A fund can only be established for a child or surviving parent who resides in Belgium.
Eligibility is reserved for families committed to Shmiras Torah U’Mitzvos.
All children under the care of the applicant are covered, including non-biological children.
If a fund was already established when one parent passed away, no second fund will be created if the other parent later passes. Areivim Belgium conducts only one collection per orphan.
Funds created for children are only applicable to unmarried children under the age of 40.
In the case of a child who was previously married before the parent’s petirah and is now divorced, the child is entitled to a fund (not a second fund) if they are living at home at the time of the petirah. In this situation, the maximum eligible age is 35, instead of the standard 40.
If the divorced child is living independently, eligibility will be determined on a case-by-case basis.- If a fund has been established for a child who remains unmarried by their 40th birthday, the fund will be retracted and returned to Areivim Belgium, as they no longer meet the eligibility criteria.
- Eligibility for fund coverage is conditional upon full compliance with the Health Eligibility Policy in effect at the time of registration.
3. Account Management
The person listed as the main billing contact on the account has the right, at any time, to update who the designated applicant. For example, a sponser can change applicant
- In the event of divorce, the board will assess fund eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
- To ensure continued coverage for the children, please contact us if family circumstances change.

5. Membership Plans & Contributions
Areivim Belgium offers multiple membership plans to suit different levels of giving.
The Standard Plan requires members to contribute €18 per fund, regardless of the number of active members. With our current membership base, this amount typically covers a full €30,000 per fund.
Members who wish to contribute more can join higher-tier plans, adding extra support to each fund. These additional contributions are combined with the standard amounts, so a family may receive more than €30,000—depending on how many members opt to give above the base rate.
This model ensures a stable, fair structure while giving generous members the opportunity to increase the impact.
6. Contribution Policy
Members are only billed when a tragedy occurs. This is not a subscription.
The contribution per member is capped at €18 per month.
In the event of a failed payment, the missed amount will be collected together with the next month's contribution, which may result in a charge exceeding €18 for that month.
When necessary, the total contribution will be split over multiple months (e.g., 6 months) to ensure no member pays more than the monthly cap.
All members must have an active SEPA Direct Debit mandate.
Members will be notified in advance of any upcoming collection and actual debit.
Contributions toward Areivim Belgium may be paid with Maaser money.
7. Registration
Registration to Areivim Belgium is only open once a year, typically during the period from Rosh Chodesh Elul until Rosh Hashanah.
All new registrations take effect only on the yearly cut-off date, which is usually Rosh Hashanah. For example, if you register on Rosh Chodesh Elul, your membership will not become active—and you will not be covered—until Rosh Hashanah.
At the time of registration, you will receive an email confirmation that includes your effective start date.
Starting September 2025, members are only liable to contribute to collections for deaths that occur after their registration date. If Areivim Belgium conducts a collection for a case where the death occurred before your registration, you will not participate in that collection.
